Expect Traffic Impacts as Shawville Bridge Work Continues

CLEARFIELD – With work to replace the Shawville Truss Bridge on Route 970 continuing, PennDOT cautions area drivers that they may encounter intermittent lane closures this week in the project area.

From March 25 through March 27, drivers could encounter lane closures on Route 879 in the Shawville area during daylight hours (7 a.m. – 5 p.m.). Flaggers could be in the roadway and drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution.

The new bridge is being built upstream from the existing one, allowing PennDOT to keep the truss bridge in service through much of the construction. When work is finished this summer, area drivers will benefit from smoother, safer travel over a modern structure. PennDOT will issue project updates as traffic impacts occur.

Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $5 million project. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
