PHILIPSBURG – A 38-year-old Philipsburg man, Kevin Thomas Aitken, is facing drug charges for allegedly distributing heroin, reported the state police at Philipsburg.
According to the report, members of the Pennsylvania State Police, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, North Central Strike Force have been probing the distribution of heroin in the Philipsburg area of Clearfield and Centre counties.
Over the past two months, members have conducted undercover controlled purchases of heroin from individuals in both counties. Through surveillance troopers have learned that individuals were traveling to the Pittsburgh area to purchase heroin for re-sale locally.
On Sunday troopers followed Aitken and a known female from Philipsburg to Pittsburgh. Upon arrival Aitken was allegedly observed meeting unknown males and purchasing heroin. Troopers followed Aitken and the female back to Centre County.
In Centre County, Aitken was stopped by a uniform trooper. At that time, troopers searched the vehicle and its occupants; troopers seized heroin and drug paraphernalia, according to the report.
Aitken has been charged with delivery of heroin, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of heroin, criminal conspiracy/possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation is ongoing at this time, state police said. Pennsylvania State police were assisted by Troop G Philipsburg Patrol, Bureau of Criminal Investigation K-9 Trooper and K-9 Tom.
