CLEARFIELD – Staff members at Visit Clearfield County (VCC) have announced the weekly events for March 20-26.

Ritz Theater, downtown Clearfield

The theater’s lobby opens at 6:30 p.m. You can grab some popcorn, even if you cannot attend the movie showings. For movies and show times, please call 814-765-5835.

Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children (12 years and under) and senior citizens (60 years and older).

Ice Skating Sessions

Friends of Parker Dam

Ice skating sessions are scheduled from 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Fridays and from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Saturdays until the ice becomes unsafe.  At these skating sessions, skate rentals are available, as well as hot chocolate, hot dogs and chili from the Friends of Parker Dam.  The skating area (not skate rentals) is open daily during normal park hours (8 a.m. – dusk), after any snow on the rink has been cleared by park staff. Parker Dam State Park is located at 28 Fairview Rd., Penfield. Call 814-765-0630 for more information.

A St. Patty’s Day Contest will take place March 9-23 at the DuBois Mall. You can visit participating mall merchants to receive a stamp on a St. Patty’s Day contest card.

Play Performance: Painting Churches

Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre

The Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre will open its season with the comedy/drama, Painting Churches, which is written by Tina Howe. The show will run March 19-21 and March 26-28.

The story centers around the relationship between an artist daughter and her aging parents.  Gardner and Fanny Church are preparing to move out of their Beacon Hill house to their summer cottage on Cape Cod.

A CAST 2015 theatre subscription form can be downloaded online atwww.castbuilding.com; picked up by stopping in the office; or requested by calling the office at 814-765-4474 and asking that one be mailed or ordering tickets for a show.

You can come learn how real maple syrup is made each Saturday and Sunday afternoon throughout the season. Learn the sweet story of maple sugaring, how it was discovered, how it was made years ago and how you can make it today.

Learn to identify maple trees in winter, how to choose the right trees for tapping, where to place the taps and so on. A few lucky participants will tap a maple tree, gather in the sap and help out. Best part – there will be free taste samples of pure maple syrup for all visitors.

Princess & Superhero Parties

First United Presbyterian Church

The “Downtown DuBois Princess and Superhero Parties” will be held on March 21.

The Princess Party will take place from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and the Superhero Party from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Both parties will be at the First United Presbyterian Church.

Girls are invited to come dressed up for story time and photographs with their favorite princesses. They will also make a craft, have a “mini makeover” and share a snack time.

The cost is $15 per child and an adult must be present. Tickets are available at the Merle Norman Boutique, DuBois Chamber and Downtown DuBois Revitalization Group offices and Trousseaux Bridal.

Council Pinewood Derby

Easter Egg Hunt

The Clearfield YMCA will hold an Easter Egg Hunt from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21. There will be an egg hunt in the swimming pool and lots of “egg-themed” games for children to play. “Pennsylvania’s “Wild” Wetlands and Waterways”

You will discover the plants and animals that live in and around Pennsylvania’s wetlands and waterways. You will create your own mock wetland following the program. Golden Gloves Boxing Match

DuBois Area High School

Golden Gloves Boxing will return to the DuBois Area High School on Saturday, March 21. Doors will open at 6 p.m.; boxing will begin at 7 p.m. The match will feature approximately eight live bouts, ranging from first-round to semi-final fights in various weight classes and divisions.  Tickets for the event are $5 for students, $15 for general admission, $30 for floor seating and $100 for VIP Gold Ringside.  VIP Gold Ringside tickets include a complimentary pre-party and swag bag.
