State police at Clearfield
- A three-vehicle accident occurred Thursday on Interstate 80 westbound in Bradford Township. George W. Sloan of Oak Harbor, Ohio, Stephen J. Robash of Mars and Michael P. Sullivan of Clearfield were traveling on I-80. The Sloan vehicle was in the travel lane; the Robash and Sullivan vehicles were in the passing lane. The Sloan vehicle swerved, which caused the Robash vehicle to do so and for Robash to lose control of it. The Sloan vehicle subsequently collided with the Robash and Sullivan vehicles. Both the Sloan and Sullivan vehicles came to a rest in the median; the Robash vehicle came to a rest in its travel lane. Sullivan was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. All occupants were wearing their seatbelts; Sloan was cited for the accident, state police said.
State police at Philipsburg
- An accident occurred Wednesday on the Tyrone Pike in Taylor Township. Paul B. Wawrynovic was traveling south when his vehicle started to lose traction due to water turning to ice on the roadway. His vehicle traveled off the west berm and impacted a tree before spinning clockwise 180 degrees and coming to a final rest in the southbound lane.
State police at Ridgway
- An incident of retail theft occurred March 16 at the Wal-Mart store in Fox Township. During the incident, a 28-year-old Ridgway woman and a 29-year-old DuBois man allegedly attempted to steal merchandise valued at $566.10 from the store. Charges were filed through the district court, state police said.
Lawrence Township
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment at the Discovery House.
- Police received a report about an alleged phone scam/fraud.
- Police received a report about an alleged unlawful contact incident. The incident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
- Police received a report about a civil issue regarding to eviction.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment by communications at the Lawrence Park Villages.
- Police received a report about an alleged harassment incident on Rocky Bend Road.
- Police received a report about an accident in the area of Turnpike Avenue and Mill Road. Citations were filed as a result of the accident, police said.
- Police received a noise complaint that occurred on Clarendon Avenue.
- Police received a noise complaint that occurred on West Front Street.
- Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle on River Road.
Curwensville Borough
- Police received a report about a Curwensville man who was in Glen Richey and who allegedly had violated a protection from abuse order. The man was arrested, arraigned and lodged in jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
- Police received a report about an accident in the area of Walnut Street. Further, police found the operator had driven off the roadway into an embankment. There wasn’t any vehicle or property damage, police said.
DuBois City
- Police received a report about an alleged assault and responded to the 100 block of Hospital Avenue on Wednesday. Further, a 55-year-old DuBois man told police he had been assaulted by another male. Upon investigation police learned he’d been confronted by a 48-year-old Reynoldsville man after parking in a handicap space and not displaying a placard. Police also learned the two men proceeded to engage in a mutual fight in the parking lot; both men were cited for disorderly conduct, police said.
- On Wednesday, police received a report about a television allegedly being damaged in the 200 block of West DuBois Avenue. Upon arrival police were advised a woman had been asleep in another room when someone allegedly entered her apartment and caused damage to her rented television. There wasn’t anything else damaged or stolen; the woman had a suspect in mind, police said, noting she didn’t wish to pursue an investigation.
- Police received a report about a two-vehicle accident Wednesday in the parking lot of a local business on South Brady Street. Upon arrival police found a 47-year-old DuBois woman had sideswiped a work vehicle operated by a 42-year-old Greensburg man. No injuries were reported; both vehicles were drivable. Both parties exchanged information and were directed to privately handle the accident, police said.
- On Wednesday, police received a report about an alleged retail theft incident at a local convenience store. Upon arrival police found an employee had allegedly witnessed a male place a candy bar valued at $1.89 in his pocket and proceed to the register to pay for other items. Police said video surveillance is being reviewed and the incident remains under investigation at this time.
- Police received a report about a two-vehicle accident Wednesday in the parking lot of a local business on Parkway Drive. Upon arrival police found an 18-year-old DuBois man was pulling from a parking space when he damaged another parked vehicle. No injuries were reported; however, one vehicle required towing, police said.
- On Thursday, police received a report about an alleged incident of disorderly conduct in the 100 block of Hospital Avenue. Upon arrival police found a 29-year-old Brookville man had been accused of starting a disturbance. Upon a brief investigation, police didn’t find any criminal activity and no further action was necessary.
- Police received a report about an alleged protection from abuse order violation Thursday from a Locust Street resident who had a PFA against her ex-husband. Under the court order, he wasn’t to have any contact with her in any manner; during the early morning hours, she allegedly received a phone call from him. Police proceeded to consult with the district attorney and filed charges for indirect criminal attempt. The man was later arrested and taken to jail to await arrangement, police said.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of trespassing Thursday in the 300 block of South Main Street. Upon arrival police found the maternal grandmother of the caller’s child was at the residence and wanted to take custody of her grandchild. Upon investigation police found it was a civil matter and encouraged the grandmother to seek remedy through the civil courts.
- Police received a report about two females who were possibly intoxicated Thursday in the 100 block of Hospital Avenue. Upon arrival police determined one female was under the care of a physician and properly using prescribed medications. The females, police said, were not intoxicated but directed not to operate a vehicle.
- Police received a report about suspicious activity Thursday in the 200 block of South Franklin Street. A witness told police there was a group of people standing on the train tracks and watching a house. Upon arrival police found the people lived in the house but were smoking outside.
- Police received a noise complaint Thursday that occurred in the 300 block of West Long Avenue. Police were advised by the caller that upstairs neighbors were stomping on the floor and making excessive noise. Upon arrival police learned the upstairs neighbors were having a birthday party; police advised them to keep the noise down.
Sandy Township
- On Wednesday, Taco Bell employees turned over a counterfeit $100 bill that was used at the restaurant.
- On Wednesday, a 35-year-old DuBois man reported receiving a voicemail message from someone claiming to be from the IRS. In the message, he was advised that if he did not call back, they would take action against him. The call was recognized as a scam, police said.
- Police received a report about a man who was sleeping at the old Kwik Fill on the Bee Line Highway on Thursday. Upon arrival police located a 27-year-old man who stated he was traveling from Maine to Colorado and ran out of money. With help from a local church, a bus ticket was purchased for the man, police said.
- On Thursday, a 42-year-old South Eighth Street man reported that someone took two tires off of his minivan overnight. The incident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
- On Thursday, employees of Kutsel’s Auto Sales reported that someone took four tires off of a Chevy Trailblazer overnight. The incident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
- On Thursday, an 87-year-old Punxsutawney man was attempting to park his vehicle in the Perkins parking lot when his foot hit the gas instead of the brake. This, police said, caused his van to crash into the restaurant. No injuries were reported, police said.
- On Thursday, a 68-year-old Hungry Hollow Road man reported that several vehicles were being driven up and down the road at all hours of the day and night.
- A 34-year-old Dixon Avenue woman reported that her 16-year-old nephew was at her house Thursday and afraid to go home due to his mother verbally abusing him. Police were able to handle the situation without incident and made arrangements for the boy to stay with his grandparents for the night.
