Anna Elva Miller, 97, of Philipsburg died Monday, March 16, 2015 at TLC Manor, Brisbin.

Born Dec. 31, 1917 in Julian, she was a daughter of the late James C. and Elva (Meiss) Andrews.

She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Philipsburg.

She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 381 of Philipsburg; UCT No. 621 of Philipsburg and Clearfield; the Ladies Auxiliary of BPO Elk Lodge No. 1173 of Philipsburg; AARP; and the Senior Citizens of Huston Township and Unionville.

She attended the Port Matilda High School. She was a graduate of the Altoona School of Cosmetology, where she received her teacher’s license in cosmetology.

She worked at the Division of Training Consultants, Lewistown. She was the owner/operator of the former Roy Miller’s Restaurant, Philipsburg. Later on, she worked retail at Brown’s Boot Shop for many years.

On June 14, 1939 in Philipsburg, she married James Roy Miller, whom died Nov. 14, 1954.

She is survived by her nephews, Nelson Flack and his wife, Janet of Philipsburg, John Andrews and his wife, Betty of Tipton, Roy Andrews and his wife, Elizabeth of Hollidaysburg and George Andrews and Brett Andrews and his wife, Christine of Harrisburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; three sisters, Margaret Jane Chandler Sweitzer, Maria Andrews and Elizabeth R. Flack; four brothers, James O. Andrews, David I. Andrews, Glenn H. Andrews and John M. Andrews; and two nephews, Kenneth “Red” Chandler, who resided with her for many years, and Ronald Andrews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, Philipsburg, with the Rev. Mark Thumma officiating.

Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
