CLEARFIELD – A Fallentimber woman accused of threatening others with a knife was sentenced during plea and sentencing court in Clearfield County.
Patricia Waite, 27, 169 Lidwell Rd., Fallentimber, was found guilty of terroristic threats after a trial in January.
She was sentenced by President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman to 90 days to six months in jail and one year consecutive probation. She was fined $100 plus costs. She must attend anger management counseling.
The charges stem from an incident Dec. 2, 2012 at a residence in Beccaria Township.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, John Weakland told police he was called to the residence by his father because his brother was “flipping out.” When he arrived, he noticed his brother was knocking things over in the kitchen and screaming at his father.
Weakland wanted his brother to calm down, but when he came towards him, he threw him to the floor. He said he never hit him but he did put his arm around the back of his neck to keep him on the ground. While he was doing this, his father screamed that Waite, who was his brother’s girlfriend, was holding two knives in her hands. She came toward him and threatened to stab him.
Weakland then got off his brother and ran toward the porch. Weakland told police the knife was some sort of kitchen knife with a black handle.
When police interviewed Waite about the incident, at first she didn’t want to speak to them, claiming she didn’t know what they were talking about. But as they were leaving, she agreed to talk. She said she was carrying her child and clothes into the residence. She fell and was upset that no one helped her.
Waite explained she got upset with her boyfriend and his father because they were not helping out. When her boyfriend got into a fight with Weakland, she wanted to scare Weakland because she thought he was going to hurt him. She admitted to having a knife in her hand.
