Next Up … Clearfield School Board to Consider Maintenance Facility Plans

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Area School District Board of Directors will consider having architect, HHSDR Architects/Engineers of Sharon, develop construction drawings and requirements for a maintenance facility.

If approved, HHSDR will develop construction plans for a maintenance facility through the bid process at a cost of $21,500. Engineering costs, not to exceed $6,000, may be additional depending on permit requirements, said Superintendent Terry Struble.

According to him, the district is considering a maintenance facility to house about 10 vehicles and a small amount of storage. If the construction is approved, he said it will be a steel building to keep the district’s vehicles out of the elements; it will have electric but will not be immediately equipped with other utilities.

Struble said if the construction is approved, the district will have the maintenance facility located behind the Clearfield Bison Sports Stadium in a field to the right of the band practice area. He wasn’t able to provide an estimate so far as the potential construction costs for the maintenance facility.

In other business, the board will also consider a proposal from ITG Consultants Inc. of Rockton to utilize its school security assessment program services at a cost not to exceed $25,000, utilizing G.S.A. pricing.

Last month, Struble said if approved, the security consultant will evaluate the district’s two school facilities for any weaknesses. Additionally, he said they will review policies and procedures and all aspects related to the district’s current security plans.
