William E. Lannen, 81, of Morrisdale died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.
Born July 5, 1933 in Tyrone, he was the son of the late Harry and Margaret (McNeal) Lannen. He married the former Mary Denochick Pettingill on Aug. 2, 1976 in Tyrone and who survives at home.
Mr. Lannen was a member of the Nativity of the St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Hawk Run. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Lannen was a member of the B.P.O. Elks No. 1173 in Philipsburg.
Until his retirement, he was a cutter with Charles Navasky & Company in Philipsburg for many years. And, he was a 1950 graduate of the Tyrone Area High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Richard Lannen.
Along with his wife, Mr. Lannen is survived by a daughter, Nancy J. Haney of State College; a sister, Darlene Williams and her husband, Robert of Tyrone; a step-sister, Mary Jane Shank of Tyrone; and two brothers, James Lannen and his wife, Shirley of Tyrone and David Lannen and his wife, Sandy of Toledo, Ohio.
He is also survived by two grandchildren, Whitney Haney of State College and Justin Haney and his companion, Shyanne Kephart of Morrisdale and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Nativity of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Hawk Run, with the Rev. Peter Benyo officiating with Deacon Emil Gulick assisting. Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery in Philipsburg.
Panachida will be held at the church beginning at 10 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral home in Philipsburg.
