Obituary Notice: Louis J. Pasko

Louis J. Pasko, 90, of Philipsburg died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at UPMC Altoona. Born April 2, 1924 in Hawk Run, he was the son of the late Stephen and Erma Slavkay Pasko.

Mr. Pasko was a 1942 graduate of the former Morris Township High School.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 until 1946 in the European Theatre. He earned two Battle Stars, one for the Rhineland Campaign and one for the Eastern Europe Campaign.

After the war, he attended the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, Calif. He was a professional photographer for 35 years in Clifton, NJ, retiring in 1968. He was a private pilot for more than 30 years, flying single-engine airplanes and sailplanes.

Mr. Pasko is survived by a niece, Lorraine Choma and her husband, Peter of New York and a nephew, William Park Jr. and his wife, Linda of Florida. He is also survived by numerous great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Ethel Ciprian, Irene Rojeck, Margaret Beveridge and Catherine Anderson and three brothers, William, Stephen and Edward Pasko.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Hawk Run, with the Father Robert J. Horgas as celebrant. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hawk Run.

Friends will be received from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Home, Morrisdale.

Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
