Thompson Announces 2015 Congressional Art Competition

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) has announced the details for the 2015 Congressional Art Competition.

As in years past, the winning piece of artwork from each congressional district across the country will be displayed in a special exhibit in the U.S. Capitol.

“The Congressional Art Competition is something that I look forward to every spring,” said Thompson.   “This is a wonderful opportunity for young artists in the Fifth Congressional District to showcase their talents and represent their schools and communities in the nation’s capital.

“Each year, I am amazed by the talent of the students and I am eager to see all of the entries while back in the district.”

All entries for the 2015 competition must be received by Wednesday, April 22 at 5 p.m.  The judging will take place on Saturday, April 25 in DuBois at the Winkler Gallery of Fine Art.

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents.  Since then, more than 650,000 high school students have participated in the nationwide competition.
