CLEARFIELD – An area family is in “desperate need” after being burned out of their home in the 700 block of Daisy Street.

Flames and smoke engulfed the home of John E., 51, and Cindy S. Poole, 39, both of Clearfield, at approximately 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

“The Poole family is in need of everything, especially clothing,” said Capt. Sharon Harford of the Clearfield Salvation Army.

An online fundraiser has been organized via Facebook. According to the page, the Poole family is in need of these clothing sizes:

According to Harford, the Salvation Army has given John Poole a $100 voucher for the Goodwill. The Goodwill, she said, will match it.

While Cindy Poole remains in the hospital, the rest of the family has been staying at an area hotel courtesy of the American Red Cross, said Harford.

The Salvation Army, if finances permit, she said would like to extend the hotel accommodations for the Poole family.

“We are trying our best to collect donations of clothing and money,” said Harford. “The Poole family’s recovery will be very long-term. They have nothing.”

She added that, “We have been praying for them. We’ve told the family that anything we can and are able to do we will do.”

According to Harford, the Poole family is very active with the Salvation Army and its church programs. She said John and Cindy Poole’s children are junior members.

“Cindy volunteers and is always here helping all of the children,” said Harford. “They are a good couple and work hard. We’re praying that they recuperate from this.”

Anyone who would like to donate to the Poole family can contact the Salvation Army at Clearfield at 814-765-4981.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Salvation Army located at 119 Byers St., Clearfield.
