CLEARFIELD – Flames and smoke poured out of a house at 714 Daisy St. in the East End area of Clearfield Borough Tuesday morning.

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, the fire was further complicated when the roof of the porch collapsed, seriously injuring a Lawrence Township firefighter who was with two other firefighters.

The firefighter was transported to Altoona Regional Medical Center for treatment. The other two firefighters were taken to Penn Highlands Clearfield for treatment and released.

The home is owned by John and Cindy Poole, who were able to escape from the fire.

Crews battled the fire in freezing rain and snow and were assisted by members of the Clearfield Borough Street Department.
