CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Revitalization Corp. recently tasked its newly-formed Youth Council to develop and plan a “fun event” for the students to host within the community and not at the school.

The Youth Council decided to host a semi-formal dinner dance, the “Annual Hometown Vintage Ball.” It was hosted on Feb. 21, at the Clearfield Elks, according to Main Street Manager Loretta Wagner.

According to her, the Youth Council invited all Clearfield students who are in grades nine through 12 and their dates, if they chose one. The students sold 54 tickets for the event, she said.

The CRC would like to thank the 10 Youth Council members, DJ Tim Winters, Donna Walker for cupcakes, Jan Graham from Happy Events Photography, Clearfield Elks BPOE, Historica Plus Antiques and Collectibles, Clearfield Borough Council members, CRC volunteers and Youth Council advisors who made this event possible.

In addition, Wagner said that the students raised enough money to purchase a bike rack in honor of the “Clearfield High School Class of 2015.” She said it will be placed for local cyclists who are traveling through downtown Clearfield and who need to rest their bikes while they shop or dine.

The bike rack was purchased as part of CRC’s Streetscape project and will be fabricated locally by TD Welding and Fabricating. “We have additional bike racks, benches, planters and trash cans that are available to be sponsored,” said Wagner.

Anyone interested in sponsoring a streetscape item should contact the CRC at 814-765-6000 or DiscoverClearfield@gmail.com.
