DUBOIS – A DuBois man and woman are facing charges following the theft of a laptop computer.

According to affidavits of probable cause filed with District Judge Patrick Ford’s office Feb. 9, Jack Paul Anderson II, 26, 3406 Wayne Rd., DuBois and Brittany Mercedes Ross, 23, 411 Spring Ave., DuBois, are charged by the DuBois City police with burglary, theft by unlawful taking or disposition, criminal trespass and criminal conspiracy.

According to the affidavit, the victim contacted police Aug. 8 to report a burglary in his apartment. The victim told police that when he arrived home, he discovered his apartment was unlocked. He said he always locks his door when he leaves. The victim told police he looked around his apartment and discovered that his $300 laptop computer had been stolen. The victim also reported that the building has security cameras.

According to the affidavit, police obtained security footage, which showed two individuals, later identified as Anderson and Ross in the hallway of the building. The footage shows Ross using a credit card to pry open the lock as Anderson stood behind her, watching for people who may come into the building.

The footage shows Ross enter the apartment and Anderson standing in the hallway gesturing with his arms, as if directing Ross where to go in the apartment. Ross then exits the apartment and hands the computer to Anderson. They both then walk out of view of the camera.

Police then spoke with Ross about the burglary. Ross allegedly admitted to being involved but said Anderson made her do it.
