Joe Biden drops by ‘Parks and Rec’ finale

Spoiler alert: Vice President Joe Biden made his second cameo appearance on the NBC show “Parks and Recreation” in the series finale Tuesday, this time alongside the Second Lady Jill Biden.

And in a flash forward to 2025, the show’s main character Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) is a lot more composed than the first time she met Biden when she touched his face and laughed awkwardly in Season 5 when the cast filmed several episodes in Washington, D.C.

But in 2025, Knope and Biden seem like old pals as Knope attends a dinner of “good friends and colleagues.”

And after the Second Lady lays out a strict “no shop talk” rule during dinner — “I’m looking at you, Leslie,” she says — Knope agrees as long as they play charades “again” after dinner.

“The last time we played charades she spent three and a half hours here,” Biden whispers to his wife.

And when Knope gets good news later in the evening , she decides she’s “going to take this energy, and I’m going to crush Joe Biden in charades.”

Biden’s appearance was one of many cameos by other famous politicos, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Sens. John McCain and Barbara Boxer.

The series, which wrapped up after seven seasons, focused on Knope who started the series as the deputy director of the Pawnee, Indiana, Parks and Recreation Department, and tracks her office of bureaucratic misfits as they run into daily obstacles surrounding municipal governance. Knope, an enthusiastic and eternal optimist, was characterized by her iron clad loyalty to serving Pawnee as well the rock star level reverence she had for national elected officials — particularly Biden.
