State police at Clearfield
- On Thursday, someone allegedly stole a Ford pick-up truck from Douglas Explosives on Graham Station Road in Decatur Township. It was later allegedly found on fire in a parking lot along Deer Creek Road. The incident remains under investigation at this time; anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
- A two-vehicle accident occurred Thursday on the Rockton Mountain Highway in Pine Township. Tiffany L. Spatara of Punxsutawney was traveling east and Jonathan D. Burns of Clearfield was traveling west. Due to traveling too fast for the roadway conditions, Spatara lost control of her vehicle, crossed over into the oncoming lane and side-swiped the Burns vehicle. Her vehicle then impacted the guiderails along the right berm of the westbound lane. Both Spatara and Burns were wearing their seatbelts; Burns wasn’t injured. Spatara was injured and extricated from her vehicle due to extensive damage to it; she was transported to the Clearfield Emergency Room for treatment. Towing services assisted at the scene. Spatara was cited for the accident, state police said.
State police at Philipsburg
- An incident of theft occurred Feb. 11 in the 800 block of Fowler Hollow Road in Taylor Township. During the incident, someone allegedly scammed the victim out of $830 by claiming money was owed due to a settlement. The incident remains under investigation at this time, state police said.
- An incident of theft occurred Feb. 12 at the Philipsburg-Osceola Middle School. During the incident, someone allegedly stole the victim’s cellular phone from her backpack during school hours. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police.
- A 53-year-old man was allegedly found in possession of a small amount of marijuana and a glass smoking pipe following a traffic stop Friday in the area of Front and Presqueisle streets in Philipsburg Borough. Charges will be filed through the district court, state police said.
Lawrence Township
- Police investigated a suspicious vehicle along Old Penfield Road.
- Police received a report about an erratic driver along Route 322.
- Police received a report about alleged damage to an unattended vehicle at a local business.
- Police received a report about a civil dispute in the area of Servomation Drive.
- Police responded to a medical emergency on Turnpike Avenue Extension.
- Police responded to a waterline break along a portion of Route 879. The roadway was closed for about 1.5 hours while ice was removed from the scene, police said.
Curwensville Borough
- Police received a noise complaint that occurred Tuesday at the Beech Street Apartments. Further, police made contact with the person involved, and no other action was necessary.
- On Tuesday, police received a report about a Clearfield motorist who had driven into the front portion of Snappy’s Convenience Store, which caused damage to the building. The man provided information to store employees and then left the scene. Police later located the man in Curwensville, and he will be cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of trespass at the Beech Street Apartments on Tuesday. Police located the suspect and found it had been a known person on the property.
- Police received a report about a GPS device allegedly being stolen from a vehicle parked on Walnut Street. Police would like to remind motorists to keep their vehicles locked to deter theft.
- Police would like to urge residents to clear their sidewalks of snow. The borough code enforcement officer will be reporting persons responsible for sidewalks over the weekend.
DuBois City
- On Wednesday, police were asked to contact male at his East Scribner Avenue residence. Also, he flagged down a patrol vehicle in the area. He told police that upon arrival at his girlfriend’s residence, two males were standing outside of the backdoor. The males, he said, were wearing gray hoodies and fled through several yards and down East Long Avenue. He chased after but lost sight of them, he told police. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
- Police received a report about an alleged domestic dispute Wednesday in the 700 block of Howard Avenue. Further, police made contact with a male and female who had engaged in a verbal argument over property. Both individuals parted ways without further incident, police said.
- Police were dispatched to a vehicle fire Thursday on East DuBois Avenue. Further, a plow truck was traveling west when a mechanical problem caused a fire. The truck was fully engulfed and its operator was able to clear without injury, police said. The fire was extinguished by the DuBois City Fire Department; PennDOT assisted with clearing ice from the roadway.
- On Thursday, police assisted state parole with a warrant service on Hospital Avenue. The wanted individual was taken into custody without incident, police said.
- Police received a report about an alleged hit-and-run accident Thursday in the parking lot of Penn Highlands DuBois. Upon arrival police made contact with both drivers and assisted with the exchange of information.
- Police received a report about a residential burglary alarm Thursday in the 400 block of Burt Street. Upon investigation police found the owner had accidentally activated the alarm.
- Police received a report about an alleged domestic disturbance Thursday in the 300 block of South Jared Street. The complainant told police she was having issues with her teenage son. Police handled the incident at the scene.
- Police received a report about an animal complaint Thursday in the 100 block of East DuBois Avenue. The complainant, police said, had confined a bat to a bedroom and requested assistance.
Sandy Township
- A 27-year-old St. Mary’s man was charged with public drunkenness and transported to jail on a 48-hour detainer after police allegedly found him along Maple Avenue on Wednesday.
- On Wednesday, a 55-year-old Hungry Hollow woman reported a man was on her posted property inside a shed. The woman’s son spoke with the man who said he was looking for a sign and did not realize that the property no longer belonged to a friend of his. Police handled the situation without in incident.
- On Wednesday, a 61-year-old Maloney Road woman reported receiving several phone calls from a man with an Indian accent, stating he was from tech support and there was a problem with her computer. The woman recognized this as a scam and did not release any personal information, police said.
- A 30-year-old DuBois man has been charged with retail theft for allegedly taking $1,585.95 in merchandise from Wal-Mart without paying for it.
- A vehicle driven by a 21-year-old St. Mary’s woman was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old DuBois boy that was stopped waiting to make a turn off of Route 255 on Wednesday. The female’s vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported, police said.
