Margaret “Peg” McFarland, 93, of DuBois died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 at Christ the King Manor.
Mrs. McFarland was born Dec. 9, 1921 at Bearlake, the daughter of Rollin and Louie (Bailey) Cooper.
She received her education from Mars High School, Slippery Rock University and Suburban General Hospital School of Nursing, Belview.
Mrs. McFarland retired from Freedom Area School as a nurse.
She was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church and the Women’s Bible Study Group.
Mrs. McFarland was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Employees and PASE, the traveling groundhog group. She was also a 75-year member of several granges. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and reading.
She is survived by two children, Harold McFarland and his husband, Ross Griffith of Fort Myers, Fla., and Luella Kreiger and her husband, Jim of Sykesville; two grandchildren, Thomas “Tom” Krieger and his wife, Trish and Kerry Clifford; two great-grandchildren, Max and Dalton Clifford; a brother, Russell Cooper of Bluffton, SC; and a sister, Florence Craig of Dayton, Ohio.
Mrs. McFarland was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin Q. “Bart” McFarland; and a sister, Shirly Bruce.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lakeside United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Zilhaver officiating. Burial will be at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Monday at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel Inc. of DuBois and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday at the church.
