Joseph J. Mikelonis Jr., 64, of Tecumseh, Mich., and formerly of DuBois died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 at his home.
Born March 19, 1950 in DuBois, he was the son of the late Joseph J. Mikelonis Sr. and Zephna (Hill) Mikelonis.
On May 10, 1975, he married Teresa M. (Kirwan) Mikelonis. She survives.
He was the vice president of taxes for Owens Corning.
In 1968, he graduated from DuBois Area High School and was the valedictorian of his class. Later, he graduated Commencement Marshall of the College of Business at Pennsylvania State University.
He was an Evan Pugh scholar and a member of the Blue Band. He remained a loyal Penn State fan for his entire life.
He was an avid golfer, marathon runner, and climbed Mount Washington in New Hampshire.
He was also a car enthusiast, a trait he passed on to his grandson. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Kristen Mikelonis of Philadelphia, and Michelle Allenson and her husband, Luke of Hartland, Wis., and his grandchildren, JT (Joseph Thomas) and Ashley Allenson.
He is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Stevens of Clearwater, Fla., and Emilie Scott of DuBois.
He was predeceased by a sister, Marianne Hodges and two brothers-in-law, Pendleton Stevens and Richard V. Scott.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Matias Quimno as celebrant.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
