Joseph J. Vallimont, 91, of Clearfield died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 at his home.

He was born Jan. 22, 1924 in Somerset, a son of the late John H. and Anna (Steinkirchner) Vallimont.

Mr. Vallimont was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield.

He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 409, Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6, Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post No. 1785 and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge No. 540, Clearfield.

Mr. Vallimont was a veteran of World War II. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force with faithful service to his country.

He is survived by his wife, LaRue M. (Hoover) Vallimont, whom he wed Oct. 15, 1956 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield.

Mr. Vallimont was the last member of his immediate family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and Edward Vallimont.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Father Brandon Kleckner as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Military honors will be accorded at cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts Honor Guard.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. -9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A Christian Vigil service will be held at 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield, or to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 275 21st St., Clearfield.
