CLEARFIELD – District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Jesse Lee Weidner, 37, of Bennetts Valley Highway, Penfield. Weidner was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on Monday.
On Aug. 29, 2014, Patrolman Elliott Neeper of the Lawrence Township Police Department filed a criminal complaint against Weidner. He charged Weidner with theft by unlawful taking, M1, and receiving stolen property, M1.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 9, 2014, police received a report about an alleged theft from a residence located on Baneyville Road, Clearfield. Upon investigation police found that Weidner, who had been evicted from the residence, had unlawfully removed $1,250 worth of items without the owner’s permission.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Oct. 29, 2014, at which time all charges were held for court. On Feb. 5, Weidner failed to appear for pre-trial conferences and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that on Monday, deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Weidner at a residence located in Penfield, and he was taken into custody without incident. Weidner is currently lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.
Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance with this case.
