Sling TV wants to shake up cable TV

There’s a new streaming TV service in town.

Sling TV on Monday launched a service that allows subscribers to watch cable channels live and on-demand on their smartphones, tablets and even television sets.

It’s a service aimed at people who want to watch basic cable channels on multiple devices without having to go through a cable company.

For $20 a month, subscribers get a package of fourteen channels, including ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, Food Network, HGTV, Travel Channel, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, ABC Family, Disney Channel, CNN, El Rey and Galavision.

Sports fans have the option of paying an additional $5 per month to see live basketball, baseball, football and some soccer games. Customers can also pay $5 a month to get additional kids and news channels.

The Sling TV app is currently available on Roku players and Roku TVs; iOS and Android devices; as well as Mac and PC computers.

Soon, it will be available on Amazon Fire TV, Google’s Nexus Player, Xbox One and smart TVs from LG and Samsung.

Sling TV, a subsidiary of Dish Networks, was first announced at the Consumer Electronics Show last month.
