Lois J. Rowles, 87, of Mineral Springs died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015 at the Penn Highlands Clearfield.

She was born June 18, 1927 in Clearfield, a son of the late John and Carrie (Burns) Ruffner.

Mrs. Rowles had been employed at the former McGregor’s Sportswear for many years before joining her husband, Ted, at the family business, Montgomery Ward, in Clearfield. She also enjoyed making macramé items and tending to the family’s garden.

She is survived by her husband, Theodore ‘Ted’ V. Rowles, whom she married on Feb. 8, 1947; three sons, Richard Thomas Rowles of New York, Theodore Allen Rowles Sr. and his companion, Brenda Coulter of Glen Richey and John David Rowles and his wife, Darlene of Clearfield; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and two sisters, Katherine Black of Altoona and Sandra Ogden of Hyde.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Anna Maines; three sisters, Nadine Nebgen, Helen Cutler and Clara Seaburn; and a brother, John Ruffner.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, with Josh Maines officiating. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Lung Association, 3001 Old Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17001.
