WINGATE — Bald Eagle Area scored the last 10 points to snatch a Mountain League victory away from Clearfield in girls basketball action Wednesday night.
The Lady Bison had the ball with a 33-30 lead at the 2:33 mark, but the Lady Eagles got two quick turnovers off their fullcourt press for field goals to go ahead and went on to triumph 40-33, avenging a 45-31 loss at Clearfield on Jan. 7.
Foul trouble was costly for Clearfield’s inside game as Rachel Glenny picked up four personals in the first half and sat out the third quarter before exiting early in the fourth quarter and Mary Ishman had been whistled three times before halftime.
Glenny, the team’s No. 2 scorer, did register nine points.
Emily Ryan paced the Lady Bison (4-13, 3-7 ML) with 10 markers.
Bald Eagle Area (5-14, 1-10 ML) got 15 points from Maddie Cingle and 12 from Hayley Giedroc.
Clearfield’s junior varsity was victorious, 29-26, behind Justina Gaylor’s 11 points.
The Lady Bison are back at home Friday to test Penns Valley, which is dueling with Tyrone for the league crown.
