Single dad creates salon-worthy braids

A former Navy technician with a shaved head has become the go-to hair stylist for his 2-year-old daughter.

Single dad Greg Wickherst could barely contain Izzy’s hair in a simple ponytail.

Luckily for Wickherst, he’s an admissions officer at the Pueblo, Colorado, campus of IntelliTec Colleges — which has cosmetology classes.

“I can’t do anything with my hair, so I might as well do it with her,” he told CNN affiliate KRDO.

Stylist Ashley Rivera heard he wanted to learn a few hairstyles, so she taught him after he got off work.

“We just sat with a mannequin, and she’d show me how to do it, and then I’d do it,” he said. “It really wasn’t that hard. It was just a matter of learning how to do it. Just taking the time to do it, and now it’s very simple to do these styles.”

He really has a way with intricate braids now.

Wickherst says all parents should try to break stereotypes with their children. “I think dads should take care of their daughter’s hair and moms should take care of their son’s football.”
