CLEARFIELD – A web-based system will enable the Clearfield County Veterans Affairs Office to better serve its veterans and their dependents, announced Betina Nicklas, VA Director, at Tuesday’s commissioners’ work session.
The VA Office has recently become a part of the Stakeholders Enterprise Portal (SEP), said Nicklas. The SEP is a secure entry portal that provides VA partner organizations access to a web-based system to assist veterans and their dependents.
The SEP combines previously autonomous VA partner organizations, such as Compensation Service (CS), Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) and Education Service (ES), according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Web site.
Nicklas said before becoming a part of the SEP, the VA Office had to submit claims and other paperwork via snail mail. She said it can now scan documents and they’re automatically uploaded into the SEP’s web-based system.
Also, Nicklas said the SEP will allow the VA office to access information at any time when veterans contact them with questions. This, she said, will enable her office to answer veterans’ questions more timely, as it will eliminate trying to contact someone at VA agencies in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
“The SEP works closely with other VA organizations. It’s going to be really great to have; it’s going to speed up and simplify VA processes,” said Nicklas. “We’re progressing Clearfield County Veterans Affairs into the future.”
