Obituary Notice: Cosmo D. Mason

Cosmo D. Mason, 87, of Morrisdale died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

Born Feb. 10, 1927 in Lawrence Township, he was the son of the late William and Ethel Kramer Mason.

Mr. Mason was a member of the Ohio United Methodist Church, Osceola Mills.

He was a graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola High School. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union and retired from TAFCO in Hyde.

Mr. Mason was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served during World War II and received a Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 3450.

He was married to Mona Marie Knepp Mason on Jan. 16, 1950 in Cumberland, Md. She survives in Morrisdale.

Mr. Mason is survived by three daughters, Vicky English and her husband, Fancy of Gastonia, NC, Ruth Kephart and her husband, Roger of Glen Hope and Rose Pero and her husband, Tony of Endicott, NY.

He is survived by four sons, Alan Mason and his wife, Rox Ann of Woodland, Gary Mason of Olanta, Dusty Mason and his wife, Sue of West Decatur and Jody Mason and his wife, Cheryl of Sparta, Tenn.

He is also survived by a brother, Philip Mason of Huntingdon, 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

Mr. Mason was preceded in death by his parents, a great-granddaughter, Laurel, four sisters, Mary, Mildred, Maxine and Alma and two brothers, Stewart and Ed.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ohio United Methodist Church, Osceola Mills, with the Rev. Andrew Griffith officiating.

Burial will be in Reidy Cemetery, Wallaceton.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Home, Morrisdale, and from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
