WILLIAMSPORT — Sophomore 165-pounder Nolan Barger (Clearfield) recorded the fastest fall of his Lycoming career as the No. 20-ranked Warriors handed Middle Atlantic Conference rival King’s a 36-9 loss in Lamade Gym Sunday afternoon.

Barger stuck Hilton Martin in 35 seconds for one of four first-period pins by the Warriors.

In a 33-9 win over visiting Alfred (N.Y.) State Thursday night, Barger piled up more than five minutes of riding time against George VanValen in an 8-2 victory.

At 13-3, Lycoming is assured of topping .700 in dual meets for the first time since the 2004-05 squad finished 20-5.

Barger’s record is 12-4 in duals and 24-7 overall.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING

CANTON, Ohio — Freshman Kara Thorp (Clearfield) swam the 200-yard medley for the first time and picked up second-place points as Edinboro (4-3) defeated host Malone 109-72 in the C.T. Branin Natatorium Saturday.

She touched the wall in 2:20.18.

With the win in hand, Thorp also swam exhibition in three events, posting times of 56.92 seconds in the 100 free, 5:49.37 in the 500 free and 26.31 seconds for the second split in the 200 free relay as the Fighting Scot ‘A’ foursome finished in 1:51.90.

PITTTSBURGH — California University of Pennsylvania sophomore Krystal Wriglesworth (Clearfield) registered a time of 5:45.10 in her first freestyle race at 500 meters during Pitt’s Senior Recognition Meet Invitational in Trees Pool Saturday afternoon.

The Vulcans fell to 6-7 with losses to Pitt 246-38, Duquesne 205.50-45.50, Carnegie Mellon 204-61 and Clarion 165-98.

Wriglesworth placed fourth against Clarion and sixth against the other three teams for the 500 free.

She logged a 26.97-second leadoff leg for the Vulcan ‘B’ 200 free quartet that claimed third place against all four foes with a time of 1:46.94.

She also was first in the pool with a 28.35-second backstroke split for the Vulcan ‘A’ medley relay foursome that had a 1.55.38 clocking, good for third place against Clarion and fourth place against the other three opponents.

WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

GENEVA, Ohio — St. Francis sophomore Rebecca Johnson (Curwensville) ran an indoor personal-record 5:44.72 mile in the Midwest Indoor Track & Field Open at the Spire Academy Saturday.

She bettered her previous mark by almost 12 seconds.

Clarion sophomore Jessica Shomo (Clearfield) placed 48th in the 60-meter dash in 8.53 seconds.

She also competed in the long jump but fouled on all three of her attempts.
