Grace M. Sunderland, 95, of Middletown, and formally of Clearfield, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at Frey Village Retirement Community in Middletown.
She was born April 17, 1919 in Clearfield. Mrs. Sunderland was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Clearfield and the Clearfield Woman’s Club.
She worked as a floor manager at Murphy’s Department Store in Clearfield, as well as a dental assistant for Dr. Hoover in Clearfield.
Mrs. Sunderland is survived by two sons, Michael D. Sunderland and his wife, Carol (Mack) of Harrisburg and Al “Bunk” Sunderland and his wife, Janice of Doylestown.
She is survived by four grandchildren, Brad Sunderland and his wife, Kelly, Tracy Sunderland–Boger, Michele Sunderland-Lougee and her husband, Christopher and Erin Sunderland-Donley and her husband, Danny.
She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Luke Boger, Owen Boger, Alexander Lougee, Nikolas Lougee, Olivia Sunderland, Lawrence “LJ” Pinko and Dresden Donley.
She was the last member of her generation. She preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond D. Sunderland, whom she married June 24, 1941 and whom died Aug. 28, 2002; two brothers, Ward Latshaw and the Rev. Henry Latshaw; three sisters, Dorothy Tice, Ruth Gross and Miriam Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday at the St. John Lutheran Church, 217 E. Pine St., Clearfield, with the Rev. Robert Way officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service at the church.
