DUBOIS – The DuBois Area High School Drama Club recently traveled to York for a dramatic weekend.

The club attended the International Thespian Society Conference located at the Central York High School.

The weekend was filled with theatrical shows performed by high school students from across the state. The students watched shows, such as The Addams Family, Twilight of the Golds, The 39 Steps and The Laramie Project, which received standing ovations from all in attendance.

The DAHS students also participated in interactive workshops taught by professional actors and high school administrators. The students had a diverse selection of workshop “classes” to choose from, such as “So You Want to Be a Professional Actor” to “Whose Line is it Anyway?”

At the closing ceremonies of the conference, senior Melanie Umbaugh was inducted into the Technical Hall of Fame and senior Dakota Rankus into the Acting Hall of Fame. Both Umbaugh and Rankus have been deeply involved in the Drama Club at DAHS for years.

The Drama Club would like to thank the administrators that made the weekend possible, Dorothea Hackett and Michael Yoha, who chaperoned, as well as to all of the members of the community who have supported the arts.
