Obituary Notice: Lefford “Leo” Milligan

Lefford “Leo” Milligan, 86, of West Decatur went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at the Ridgeview Elder Care Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.

He was born March 15, 1928 in Wallaceton to the late Edward and Adah Kanouff Milligan.  He was a member of the Cornerstone Community Fellowship Church of God, Wallaceton.

Mr. Milligan was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean War, where he was awarded a Bronze Star.

He was married to Sarah Beish Milligan on Feb. 6, 1957 in Cumberland, Md. She survives in Wallaceton.

He is survived by six daughters, Maxine Altman of Youngstown, Ohio; Marsha Shimmel of Bigler; Helen McBride and her husband, Clarence of West Decatur; Mary Scaife and her husband, Mark of Osceola Mills; Bernice James of Clearfield; and Charlotte Johnson and her husband, John of Curwensville.

He is also survived by two sons, Edward Milligan of Curwensville and Benjamin Milligan of Novato, Calif.; two sisters, Beverly Lumadue of West Decatur and June Milligan of Philipsburg; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Donald and Autumn; eight brothers; and three sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Home, Morrisdale, with the Pastor Matt Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Morrisdale.

Friends will be received from 12 p.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
