Detour Coming as Building Construction Continues near North Atherton Street in State College

STATE COLLEGE – A road closure will begin Jan. 24 as work to construct the Metropolitan Building continues near North Atherton Street/Route 3014 (Business 322) in the State College area. The closure is necessary to facilitate the delivery of crane equipment to the job site.

On Jan. 24, the portion of Route 26 southbound (West College Avenue) between North Atherton Street and Barnard Street will be closed and a three day-long detour will be in place.

PennDOT’s official detour will direct westbound traffic from West College Avenue/Route 26 to South Atherton Street/Route 3014 to University Drive Extension/Whitehall Road and back to West College Avenue/Route 26.

Message boards and detour signing will be in place. Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits, follow official detour signs, and always buckle up.
