DuBois Beautification Group to Hold Meeting

DUBOIS – The Downtown DuBois Revitalization Group’s Beautification and Neighborhood Improvement Committee will hold its first meeting at 12 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Hitching Post on Liberty Boulevard, DuBois.

The beautification committee needs individuals to teach or to do commercial window display, photographers to document projects, artists for a community project and workers and specialists (designers, contractors and landscapers) for curb appeal-type projects.

Anyone with an interest in the betterment of downtown DuBois is encouraged to get involved with the DDRG’s beautification committee.  The committee focuses on downtown DuBois projects and individuals can get involved in one or many of its projects.

The beautification committee conducts the annual Community Spring Clean-up, which is being held April 11 and starting at the DuBois City Park.  It has also started a “large item pick-up” to assist residents who have limited means to get items to the city dump day for disposal.  This event will be held Aug. 15.

Projects the committee is working on for 2015 include a public art project, helping business and homeowners with small outdoor projects, window display workshops, historic property acquisition and restoration and a how-to class on what to look for in a historic property and the permitting process.

Anyone with questions or ideas for the DDRG is asked to please e-mail stewart@zitomedia.net or call 814-591-2570.
