John P. Kitko Sr., 84, of Houtzdale died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born June 4, 1930 in Madera, he was a son of the late Philip and Victoria (Wrobleski) Kitko.
He was a parishioner of the Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale. He was a farmer.
In 1953, he became the owner and operator of John P. Kitko & Sons Trucking. He enjoyed spending time with his family and deep sea fishing.
On April 18, 1953 in the former Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Madera, he wed the former Marie Warholic, who survives him of Houtzdale.
He is survived by four sons, Richard J. (Helen) Kitko of Columbia, SC; Raymond P. (Shirley) Kitko Sr. of Ocean; John P. (Elizabeth) Kitko Jr. of Madera; and Christopher R. (Nicole) Kitko of Houtzdale. He is survived by six grandchildren, Raymond (Bobbie) Jr., Jesse, Alura, Jonah, Noah and Caleb and great-granddaughter, Tessa.
He is also survived by a sister and three brothers, Helen Kobilarcik of Massillon, Ohio; Philip (Doris) Kitko of Houtzdale; Fred (Barbara) Kitko of Coalport; and Ronald Kitko of Madera and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Kitko.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc., Ramey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Christ the King Church, Houtzdale, with Fr. Marc J. Solomon as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Houtzdale.
