Obituary Notice: Edmond G. Rishell Jr.

Edmond G. Rishell Jr., a loving husband of Jeanette for 45 years; a father of Emily and Stacey; and a grandfather to Miranda, Cora and Vivian, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015.

He was born March 4, 1950 in DuBois, the son of the late Edmond Rishell Sr. and Jeanette Roselli Rishell.

He graduated from the Penn State University with a degree in engineering. He had a long and productive career at the U.S. Patent Office, receiving numerous achievement awards and retiring in 2009.

He served on the Manassas Park Planning Commission for 20 years. He enjoyed every aspect of his service to the city he loved. He was a devoted master gardener and never lost his passion for nature and all of its beauty.

In 2011, he was named Prince William County Volunteer of the Quarter for January-March. He volunteered at the Bull Run Unitarian Universalist food pantry, enjoying all those with whom he worked and those he served.

He was preceded in death by his parents and both sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Rishell of Manassas Park; his daughters, Emily Rishell and Andy Draugelis of Manassas Park and Stacey Haskell and her husband, Mark of Huntersville, NC: and three granddaughters, Miranda Jehle of Manassas Park and Cora and Vivian Haskell of Huntersville, NC.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas, VA., where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Scott McNeill officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Master Gardner’s of Prince William County by mailing a check to: “VTF-VCE-Prince William Master Gardeners,” 8033 Ashton Ave., Suite 105, Manassas VA 20109 or to Leukemia research.

A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following the funeral, at the Bull Run Unitarian Universalists Church located at 9350 Main St. in Manassas.
