Obituary Notice: Douglas Aaron Rowles

Douglas Aaron Rowles, 72, of Morrisdale, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015 at the UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born Nov. 3, 1942 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of Stacy Aaron and Lillian Louise (Taylor) Rowles.

Mr. Rowles was a 1960 graduate of Clearfield Area High School and a 1964 graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

He taught Spanish at the Windber Area High School. He was retired from the University Book Store at Penn State University.

He had attended the Gethsemane United Methodist Church in Allport. He was an active member of the Quad County Amateur Radio Club, where he had served on the executive committee and also as its past president and treasurer.

He enjoyed all Penn State University Sports especially men’s basketball.

Surviving are two brothers, Larry Rowles and his wife, Jeanne of Pittsburgh and Jeffrey Rowles of Morrisdale; a niece, Brieana Rowles of Pittsburgh; an aunt, Almeda Wingard of Grampian; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville with the Pastor Ron Emery officiating.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at the funeral home.

The family suggests contributions be made to either the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA  17603 or to the Easter Seals, 501 Valley View Blvd.,  Altoona, PA  16602.
