Car bomb targets foreign convoy in Kabul

A car packed with explosives detonated Monday near a convoy of foreign vehicles in Kabul, wounding at least six civilians, Afghan police said.

The convoy was a group from the European Union Police Mission in Afghanistan (EUPOL).

“We can confirm that at 1324 today a EUPOL vehicle was involved in a vehicle borne suicide attack whilst it was travelling east on the Jalalabad Road in Kabul,” a statement from the group read.

There were no EUPOL casualties, but the group was aware of civilians hurt and would work with Afghan police to investigate the attack, acting head of mission Pia Stjernvall said.
