Obituary Notice: William M. Shaffer Jr.

William M. Shaffer Jr., 49, of Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014 at his home.

Born July 20, 1965 in DuBois, he was the son of William M. Shaffer Sr. and Margaret “Peggy” (Bader) Shaffer.

He was a 1983 graduate of the DuBois Area High School.  He then graduated from Clarion University with a degree in education. He later graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in industrial engineering.

He taught statistics at the DuBois Area High School for seven years.  He then became a financial advisor for Edward Jones and had offices in State College and DuBois.

He was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed golfing.  He loved to go boating and was an avid weightlifter and runner.

He had a wonderful sense of humor and a great smile.  He loved to make people laugh.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Noah Shaffer of DuBois and Eric Shaffer of Boca Grande, Fla.; a sister, Diane Brunetti and her husband, Todd of DuBois; his maternal grandmother, Irene Bader of DuBois; two nieces, Alyssa and Maggie Heath; and a nephew, Patrick Heath.

Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Kresinski as celebrant.

Burial will follow in the St. Michael Cemetery.

Although flowers are appreciated, the family strongly suggests that memorials be placed with a local charity of the donor’s choice.
