Kathryn L. Fernandes, 85, a resident of Windy Hill Village, Presbyterian Senior Living, Philipsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born June 6, 1929 in Hawk Run (Pardee), she was the youngest daughter of John A. and Catherine (Dinya) Baronak. She married John B. Fernandes on Nov. 30, 1957.
She retired from the General Cigar Co., Philipsburg, in 1986.
Mrs. Fernandes had high spirits and could make anyone laugh. She enjoyed socializing with her late husband, with family and with friends. She loved to be called “Scarlet” by her daughter.
She’s survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen (Timothy) Golding; a grandson, Timothy (Kathryn) Golding Jr.; and a great-grandson, Greyson.
Mrs. Fernandes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in December of 2008; her sisters, Anna Swansegar, Olga Erhart and Mary Ferrone; and her brothers, Michael, John and Rudolph.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Hawk Run, with Father Robert Horgas as celebrant.
There will not be any public visitation.
