CURWENSVILLE – The Curwensville Elementary School will host Bi-Okoto, a group of African performance artists, during the week of Jan. 5-9.
Bi-Okoto has performed both nationally and internationally and has been critically acclaimed to be one of the best African dance companies in the country.
Bi-Okoto will enrich Curwensville students through African culture, such as hand drumming, singing, dancing, art, language and more.
Bi-Okoto will spend time with both elementary music and art classes throughout the week. They will work with groups of students in grades K-6 to put on an African performance on their last day at the school.
This students’ performance will consist of drumming, dancing and singing as well as audience participation. There will be two shows on their last day with one during the school day for the students and another in the evening for parents and the community.
The community show is scheduled for Jan. 9 at the school auditorium. Admission will be $3 for adults and $1 for students. Also, donations will be collected that evening to support the elementary art and music programs.
