DUBOIS – A York man will stand trial for allegedly firing a gun on school property.
Manuel Pichardo-Delarosa, 23, 607 W. Locust St., York, is charged with possessing a weapon on school property and firearms not to be carried without a license.
After a preliminary hearing, District Judge Patrick Ford sent these charges on to the court of common pleas. Sixteen counts of recklessly endangering another person were withdrawn. He remains in the Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
The charges stem from an incident in at the Wasson Elementary School in Sandy Township on Oct. 4.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, police were called to the area of the school after receiving a report of shots fired. One of the officers stopped a vehicle with three occupants. They were placed into custody and searched. No firearms were found.
When an officer checked the interior of the vehicle, he found a handgun in a pocket in the back seat. A check on the registration showed the gun was not registered. All of the occupants of the car said the gun did not belong to them, and they didn’t know how it got in the vehicle.
Later the driver of the vehicle, Drew Stevenson said Pichardo-Delarosa was the one who brought the gun and Pichardo-Delaros was the one firing the weapon.
It was discovered that Pichardo-Delarosa was on probation and his probation officer was contacted.
