CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough police would like to warn area residents about a scam.
Police have received complaints from recipients of a text message, which indicated to them a problem with their credit card. The text message directed the recipients to call in order to correct the problem, police stated.
According to police, when the phone number is dialed the call is answered by an automated system. The automated system, police stated, requested for the recipient to enter their credit card information.
Police would like to remind area residents not to provide their personal information to unknown individuals.
