CLEARFIELD – Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospice will hold the 18th annual Chili Bowl on Sept. 17, 2015.
It will take place from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Expo II Building at the Clearfield Driving Park.
This year’s Chili Bowl theme is a sports-related, “Game On.” All profits from this event benefit the hospice program patients and families to cover expenses not covered by insurance.
The Chili Bowl has plans for supervised children’s activities, live entertainment and more. Participation can be done in one of three ways:
- ENTER THE COOK-OFF. If you have a mean chili, enter it, the registration fee is $30. You will be provided with a table (4-foot space), electric outlet and an official chili bowl apron. Bowls and spoons are available for public consumption of your special recipe.
- SPONSOR A COOK. If you can’t cook yourself, sponsor a table (4-foot space) and provide a cook. The $30 registration fee doesn’t change.
- CONSIDER A DONATION to Hospice (in the amount of your choice) if you’re unable to enter or sponsor.
There are four categories, open, restaurant, church and physician, judged by a panel comprised of representatives from the communities that hospice serves.
Winners are determined at the end of the taste-testing and will be presented an award during the evening finale. If your chili doesn’t place, you still have a chance to win by trying for the Artistic Award (best presentation), the Spirit Award (most enthusiastic) or the coveted Humanitarian Award (raising the most money for hospice) or the People’s Choice Award (judged by the patrons).
The registration deadline is Aug. 28, 2015 and is limited to the first 50 entries. For additional entry forms and or questions, please call hospice at 814-768-2012.
