John Edmund Lonjin, 66, of West Decatur died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014 at his home. Born Oct. 9, 1948 in Clearfield, he was the son of the late Merrill John and Edith (Knepp) Lonjin.

Mr. Lonjin was a 1966 graduate of the Clearfield High School. He studied electrical at the Clearfield Vo-Tech School. He was of the United Methodist faith. Mr. Lonjin was an electrician at Penn State University.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during Vietnam. He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 8, a Little League coach, a Cub Scout leader, a Boy Scout leader and an Order of the Arrow.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, computers, cameras, boy scouts and riding all-terrain vehicles. He was an avid fan of the Philipsburg-Osceola Mounties and Penn State and Pittsburgh sports.

On April 13, 1968 at the Calvary United Methodist Church, West Decatur, he married Rose Mary (Godissart) Lonjin, who survives at home.

Surviving are a son, Joseph John Lonjin and his wife, Chrystal of West Decatur; a daughter, Dana Voigt of West Decatur; a sister, Mary Jane and her husband, George “Don” Williams of West Decatur; and a sister-in-law, Violet Lonjin of Woodland.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Austin and Abigail Lonjin and Ava and Alivia Voigt and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lonjin was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Angela; an infant sister; a brother, Merrill “Dick” Lonjin Jr.; and two sisters, Margaret Shugarts and Hazel Maines.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 167 Blue Ball Rd., West Decatur, with the Rev. Mark Johnson officiating.

Military honors will be conducted at the church by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard. Burial will be at Reidy Cemetery, Wallaceton.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, Philipsburg, and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
