Frederick W. Rasdorf, 90, of Forest died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014 at his residence. Born July 4, 1924 in Snow Shoe, he was the son of the late Fred and Wilhemina Shikella Rasdorf.
Mr. Rasdorf was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Forest. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. Mr. Rasdorf received four Bronze Stars.
He was married to Irene Gradowski Rasdorf on Sept. 24, 1949 in Chicago. She survives in Forest.
He’s survived by four sons, William Rasdorf of Raleigh, NC, Daniel Rasdorf and his wife, Kathy of Williamsport, David Rasdorf and his wife, Sue of Alexandria, Va., and Fred Rasdorf Jr. and his wife, Rhonda of Ossian, Ind.
Mr. Rasdorf is survived by three sisters, Cecila Liguori of Cleveland, Ohio, Violet Tatz of Smyrna, Ga., and Lorraine Michaels of Forest; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Aaron, David Jr., Andrew, Joseph, Emily, Marie and Traci; and two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Aiden.
In addition to his parents, he’s preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth Nelson; one sister, Lillian Ambill; and one brother, Oscar Rasdorf.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday at the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Forest, with Pastor Kenneth Zitsch officiating. Burial will be at the family plot at the Emmanuel United Methodist Cemetery, Forest.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale, and from 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the church.
Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
