State Police: William M. Williams Promoted to Captain

HARRISBURG – State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan has promoted William M. Williams, a native of State College Borough, Centre County, to captain and assigned him as the director, Radio and Information Services Division, Bureau of Communications and Information Services.  He most recently served as the implementation manager, Records Management Section, Bureau of Communications and Information Services.

Williams enlisted in the state police in 1986.  Upon graduation from the academy, he was assigned to Troop J, Lancaster.  As he progressed through the ranks, he served in Troop N and the Bureaus of Research and Development, Criminal Investigation, and Communications and Information Services.  During his career, he served as a trooper, corporal and sergeant in Troop N.

Williams was promoted to corporal in 1993, to sergeant in 1997 and to lieutenant in 2008.  Williams is a 1976 graduate of State College Area High School, a 1980 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and a 2002 graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command where he was awarded the Franklin M. Kreml Leadership Award.

Williams and his wife, Clelia, reside in Jim Thorpe Borough, Carbon County, and have three children, Cynthia, Bryce and Joshua
