David A. Bailey, 79, of Clearfield died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014 at UPMC Altoona.
Mr. Bailey was born July 17, 1935 in Clearfield, the son of Alvin W. and Ada (Dillon) Bailey.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force. He had also been employed by Harbison-Walker Refractories for 10 years and had worked for a number of companies in aircraft structural repair.
He also drove school bus for the Clearfield Area School District for 15 years.
Mr. Bailey was affiliated with the West Side Church of Christ.
He was a member of the Clearfield VFW Post No. 1785 and the Clearfield FOE Post No. 812.
Mr. Bailey was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served during the Korean War and the Vietnam Era.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy K. (Sheffield) Bailey, whom he married Oct. 27, 1956.
He’s survived by a son, Denny S. Bailey and his wife, Nicole A. and a daughter, Dawn Jeannette Bailey-Powell and her husband, Christopher, all of Clearfield; four grandchildren, Nicole L. Powell, Lennon L. Miller, Jasper L. and Justin H. Bailey; and a great-granddaughter, Eva Dawn McBride.
He’s also survived by three brothers, Raymond Bailey of Lockport, NY, Ben C. Bailey of Clearfield and Merle “Jim” Bailey and his wife, Colleen of Ridgway; a twin sister, Dorothy McCracken and her husband, Dean of Lumber City; a sister, Ruth Rougeux and her husband, Ray of Clearfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, David Walter Bailey; three brothers, Walter A., Glenn and Donald Bailey; and two sisters, Okla Belmont and Shirley Folmar.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield, with Minister Isaiah Krause officiating.
Burial will be at Bloomington Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Clearfield Honor Guard.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. Thursday until the hour of services at the funeral home.
