Isabel M. Altemus, 74, of Woodland died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014 at Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital.

She was born Feb. 26, 1940 in Osceola Mills, the daughter of the late Edward and Isabel (Test) Williams.

On Aug. 23, 1958, she married the Rev. Harold D. Altemus at the Gospel Tabernacle Church in Philipsburg. He survives.

She was a graduate of the Philipsburg Osceola High School and the Eastern Bible Institute of the Assembly of God. She attended Penn State University for a teaching certificate.

She went on to work for the Captains Table Restaurant and Brody’s as their top seamstress. She also taught at the Clearfield Vo-Tech School and worked as a clerk at David Wigfield & Associates, CPA.

She attended the Clearfield Christian Missionary and Alliance Church and the Joy of Living Bible Study. She was a member of the OWLS. Her hobbies included sewing and cooking.

She’s survived by her six children, Joseph Altemus of Colorado, H. Dean Altemus Jr. and his wife, Marcia of Clearfield, Sandra and her husband, David Wigfield of State College, Bruce Altemus and Robert Altemus, both of Texas, and Daniel and his wife, Rhonda Altemus of Newport.

She’s survived by 15 grandchildren, Zackary, Zane, Bridget, Justen and his wife, Lacy, Jon and his wife, Christina, David and his wife, Toya, Phillip, Bethany, Ryan, Jeremy and his wife, Kirsten, Julie, Daniel, Courtney, Kayla and Robbie and nine great-grandchildren.

She’s also survived by two brothers, Ronald and his wife, Maryann Williams of West Virginia and Jack and his wife, Ruth Williams of Woodland and a sister, Carol Cartwright of Philipsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Brittany Altemus.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Clearfield Christian Missionary and Alliance Church with Dr. Duane A. White and the Rev. Richard Goldenburg officiating. Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc.

An additional hour of viewing will be held from 12 p.m. until the hour of service at the church on Thursday.
