TYRONE – The Tyrone football boosters, along with the cheerleaders and band, donated $681 to the Tyrone Regional Health Network’s Breast Cancer & Women’s Health Institute (BCWHI), Breast Cancer Voucher Program.

The Breast Cancer Voucher Program provides financial support to patients of BCWHI with breast cancer who are uninsured or underinsured to help ease the financial pressures.

The football boosters, cheerleaders and band raised funds before and during their annual pink game held in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Oct. 10. The three groups worked cooperatively to develop and implement fundraisers, which included the sale of pink T-shirts bearing the image of a football player and the slogan “Sack Breast Cancer” and a pink basket raffle; also, 10 percent of the football booster concession sales the night of the pink game were also donated to the cause.

“We were excited to help raise this money for such a worthy cause,” said Noelle Hand, president of the Tyrone football boosters.  “It helps knowing that the money is kept in our community and can potentially help someone we might know.  We hope this tradition continues for years to come.”
