DuBois Police Probe Alleged Burglary Involving Armed Suspect
DUBOIS – DuBois City police are probing an alleged burglary that occurred Sunday night at an apartment complex in the 100 block of West Long Avenue, DuBois.
Upon arrival police made contact with several witnesses. Witnesses told police that four masked males were burglarizing an apartment and when confronted one brandished a handgun.
Public Invited to Comment on Draft Long Range Transportation Plan
HARRISBURG – The public is invited to comment on the state’s draft, Long Range Transportation Plan, which will help guide future 12-Year Programs and regional plans, by visitingwww.PAOnTrack.com.
“Our Long Range Transportation Plan provides a vision for Pennsylvania’s future by focusing on system preservation, safety, stewardship and personal and freight mobility,” PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch said. “I encourage the public to join us in establishing these goals because our transportation network impacts all of us for generations to come.”
Public Hearing Precedes Sandy Twp. Meeting
DUBOIS – A public hearing was held prior to the start of the regularly scheduled Sandy Township meeting on Monday night.
The hearing was for the supervisors to receive evidence regarding whether the Treasure Lake residence at Section 15, Lot 465, owned by Sue Woodland at 1865 Basse Terra Rd., should be declared a dangerous and dilapidated building.
If declared dangerous and dilapidated, the building would then be ordered repaired, vacated or demolished in accordance with the Sandy Township Dangerous or Dilapidated Building Ordinance.
Clearfield School Board Approves Settlement Regarding Girard-Goshen
CLEARFIELD – During Monday night’s combined committee and board meeting, the Clearfield school board approved the settlement and release agreement with Hallstrom-Clark Electric Inc., Overdorf Mechanicals Inc. and Hickes Associates in the amount of $195,000 in regards to the construction of the Girard-Goshen Elementary School.
The board voted to temporarily close Girard-Goshen in October of 2010 when its roof was determined to be structurally deficient. Its staff and approximately 70 students were relocated to the current Clearfield Area Elementary School. The board voted to permanently close Girard-Goshen at a June of 2012 school board meeting.

The family of 37-year-old Susan Bachman of Centre County is continuing to follow all reliable tips that may lead to her whereabouts.
The incident began around 8:30 a.m. July 4, when Susan Bachman jumped out of a car near mile-marker 77 on Interstate 80 westbound.
DEP Awards Nearly $3M for Abandoned Mine Reclamation Projects in Armstrong and Clearfield Counties
HARRISBURG – The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has announced it has awarded contracts, totaling $2,952,000 for the Mudlick Abandoned Mine Reclamation Project in Redbank Township, Armstrong County and the Bethlehem School Abandoned Mine Reclamation Project in Boggs Township, Clearfield County.
School Board Oks Class Field Trips
CLEARFIELD – Despite one member’s opposition, the Clearfield school board approved class field trips for the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School students during Monday night’s combined committee and board meeting.
The class field trips receiving approval were: 12th grade, Washington, D.C., May 28; 11th grade, Penn State University Campus, April 17; 10th grade, Gettysburg, May 15; ninth grade, St. Francis University/Prince Gallitzin State Park, May 29; eighth grade, Carnegie Science Center, May 22; and seventh grade, Pittsburgh Pirates game, May 27.
LT Supers Fill Board Vacancies
CLEARFIELD – At last night’s meeting, the Lawrence Township Supervisors approved to appoint Dave Nelson and Brandy Owens to the Township Planning Commission after reviewing their submitted letters of interest.
A letter if interest was also received from R.J. Ward, a senior at Clearfield High School, for a junior member vacancy on the Recreational Park Board. The supervisors approved to appoint Ward. It was noted that there is still an opening for a second junior member seat on the board.
DuBois Students Volunteer at Local Food Pantry
DUBOIS – Students in Kyle Gordon’s gifted program at the DuBois Area High School recently volunteered with a local mobile food pantry at Wasson Elementary School.
Gordon and his wife have been facilitating this food pantry for almost three years and started this venture when Gordon was an affiliate staff member at Penn State DuBois.
Dent and Thompson Lead Effort to Make NCAA Come Clean on PSU Investigation
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Reps. Charlie Dent (PA-15) and Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) and 14 members of the Pennsylvania Congressional Delegation sent a letter Wednesday to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) calling for the release of all the organization’s documents relating to the Consent Decree imposed upon the Pennsylvania State University (Penn State).
Hearing Continued in Burglary Case
CLEARFIELD – During yesterday’s session of Centralized Court, the preliminary hearing was continued until Dec. 17 for a Weedville man who was allegedly involved with a burglary last month in Lawrence Township.
Gary Anthony Cameron, 24, of Weedville has been charged with burglary; conspiracy/theft by unlawful taking; criminal trespass; theft by unlawful taking; criminal mischief; and receiving stolen property. His bail has been set at $50,000 monetary.
Olanta Woman to Stand Trial in Assault Case
CLEARFIELD – All charges were held for court against an Olanta woman accused of assault after a preliminary hearing during Centralized Court on Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Terra Lynn Rowles, 26, of Olanta has been charged with burglary; criminal trespass; harassment; simple assault; terroristic threats; and disorderly conduct. Her bail has been set at $50,000 monetary.
Reward Offered for Wanted Megan’s Law Violator
CLEARFIELD – Charges have been filed against a Clearfield man for failing to comply with sexual offender registration requirements, according to District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr.
Shaw identified the defendant as Henry Lee Cutler, 24, of Smith Street, Clearfield. On Nov. 11, Sgt. Greg Neeper of the Clearfield Borough Police Department filed a criminal complaint, charging Cutler with failure to comply with registration requirements.
DA: Two Charged in DuBois Home Invasions
DUBOIS – A couple has been charged in connection with two home invasions in DuBois, announced Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr.
Shaw identified the defendants as Nathan Bowser, 23, of Jefferson Street, Brookville, and Jacquelynn Primm, 21, of South Avenue, DuBois.
Clearfield Borough OKs Proposed Budget Without Millage Increase
CLEARFIELD – Last night, the Clearfield Borough Council approved to publicly display the proposed 2015 budget and for the tax rate to remain at 25 mills.
The proposed budget is $2,320,123.05, an increase from the 2014 budget of nearly $50,000. According to the proposed budget, a majority of the increased revenues will come from anticipated increase in Local Earned Income Tax and Local Services Tax of $25,000 each.
Clearfield Schools and CESPA Announce Approval of New Contract
CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Area School District, in partnership with the Clearfield Education Support Professionals Association, has announced the approval of their new contract.
On behalf of the district, board President Mary Anne Jackson would like to thank the CESPA members and leadership for their patience in negotiations through the school building and position consolidations.
Clearfield Man Gets State Prison in Sexual Assault Case
CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man accused of sexually assaulting a young teen was sentenced after a Megan’s Law assessment hearing.
Kyle Andrew Wilson, 20, 517 Bigler Ave., Clearfield, pleaded guilty to statutory sexual assault and indecent assault of person less than 16 years old.
