CLEARFIELD – Staff members at Visit Clearfield County (VCC) have announced the weekly events for Nov. 21-27.

Ritz Theater, downtown Clearfield

The theater’s lobby opens at 6:30 p.m. You can grab some popcorn, even if you cannot attend the movie showings. For movies and show times, please call 814-765-5835.  Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children (12 years and under) and senior citizens (60 years and older).

10 Keys to Healthy Aging Workshops

Curwensville Community Center

Friday, Nov. 21

You can take ownership of your health and attend educational workshops to learn about the 10 Keys to healthy aging and the many no-cost and low-cost preventative services provided by Medicare to help keep you healthy.

The free workshops are taught by certified health ambassadors and APPRISE counselors and will begin Friday, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (closed Nov. 28) at the Curwensville Community Center.

Nunsense 2 – The Second Coming

At 7 p.m. Nov. 20-22, Nunsense 2 will take the nuns on another hilarious journey, as they decide to continue their fundraising efforts via a “thank you program” for their supporters.  The show is full of musical numbers.

Audiences loved the original Nunsense in 2012 and asked for more of the same. The CAST will present the sequel in November. The CAST is located at 112 E. Locust St., Clearfield. Call 814-765-4474 for ticket information.

Brighten the Night

DuBois City Park Amphitheater

Friday, Nov. 21

At 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 at the DuBois City Park Amphitheater, Brighten the Night will start the Christmas season. You can welcome the arrival of Santa, witness the lighting of the DuBois Christmas tree, sign a card for the troops and make your own Christmas craft. Also, you can receive a 4-inch by 6-inch photo with Santa when you bring a food donation or suggested cash donation of $3. All food and money will go toward a local food pantry.

Turkey Trot

Treasure Lake

Saturday, Nov. 22

On Saturday, Nov. 22, Treasure Lake will host the first-ever Turkey Trot at Captain Kidd Park from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. There will be three age groups: 3-5 years, 6-8 years and 9-11 years. If you have younger children, feel free to participate with a stroller. There will be cookies and cider available and a special guest will make an appearance. Time for Turkeys

It’s “Time for Turkeys.” Thanksgiving is right around the corner. You can come and learn about the wild bird that Benjamin Franklin wanted to be the national symbol.

Following an informational slideshow, the children in the audience can enjoy some wild turkey coloring pages. The program will begin at 1 p.m. in the Discovery Room.

Holiday Wine Fest

A Holiday Wine Fest will be held from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday Nov. 22 at the Osceola Mills Fire Hall. In addition to wine, there will be vendors, music/entertainment and refreshments available. Tickets are $10 and are available at the fire hall and at the door. The Osceola Mills Fire Hall is located at 140 Curtain St. in Osceola Mills.

The Moore Brothers will play Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Rescue Hose & Ladder Company. Story Time

DuBois Public Library

Nov. 4, 2014 – Dec. 11

On Tuesdays at 10 a.m., “Babies & Books” will be held with Miss Becky. Babies who are up to 2 years old and their parent/caregiver can participate in this interactive story time full of finger-plays, songs, stories and bonding time.

On Tuesdays at 11 a.m., “Thrilling Threes” will be held with Miss Chris and Miss Jayme. Children will enjoy stories, songs, finger-plays and fun. Children will work on their independence, while their parents can enjoy the library.

On Thursdays at 10 a.m., “Terrific Twos” will be held with Miss Becky. During this program, 2-year-olds and their parent/caregiver will enjoy this fun-filled story time that will be packed with books, songs and finger-plays.

On Thursdays at 11 a.m., “Fantastic Fours & Fives” will be held with Miss Chris and Miss Sandy. During this program, children will get ready for school with stories, songs and games galore.  Children will work on their independence, while their parents can enjoy the library.
